Why do you charge submission fees?

The submission fees help cover the expenses of our paid job researcher staff, who every day are on the phones looking for opportunities for our members. They also help cover the cost of the technology platform that runs the SubmitDIRECT system and the reviewer areas. We are constantly working on upgrading that technology- currently we're testing new software that allow MP4 (.mp4 or .m4a) files so composers who have their music in iTunes collections can more easily submit. None of the submission fees go to the job posters - the fees pay only for the delivery service/platform we provide, just like for instance a FedEx fee would pay for delivery of a package.
